Hi everyone,

I've been prescribed Prednisone for some inflammation issues and was wondering if anyone has experience buying this medication in Mexico? It seems a lot cheaper over there but I'm worried about the quality. Any tips or warnings would be greatly appreciated!

Hi SunnySideUp,

Thank you for reaching out. When it comes to purchasing medications abroad, particularly online from countries like Mexico, there are a few things to consider.

Firstly, it's important to ensure that the pharmacy or supplier is reputable and licensed to sell pharmaceuticals internationally. Check if they have any reviews or ratings from other customers who have purchased similar medications.

Secondly, even though the medication might be cheaper, its crucial to verify its authenticity. Counterfeit drugs are a serious issue, especially when buying online. You can contact your local pharmacy or healthcare provider for recommendations on reliable sources.

Lastly, ensure that you discuss with your doctor any plans to buy prescription medication outside of your home country. They can provide guidance based on your health condition and the specific requirements of your treatment plan.

Do let us know if you have any other questions or need further advice!

Thank you so much, DrMedic8! That's really helpful. I'll definitely talk to my doctor about it first. Just out of curiosity, how different is the Mexican version compared to whats available in the U.S.? Is there any variation in terms of ingredients or formulation?

Hi SunnySideUp,

The active ingredient in Prednisone is the same regardless of where it's manufactured, so you can be confident that the core component will be identical. However, there are a few factors to consider when comparing medications from different countries:

  1. Dosage Forms: The pill sizes and shapes might vary, which could affect how they look or feel compared to what you're used to in the U.S.

  2. Inactive Ingredients: Sometimes, the inactive ingredients (binders, fillers) may differ slightly depending on the manufacturer. This is usually not a significant issue unless you have specific allergies.

  3. Regulatory Standards: Different countries have varying regulatory standards for pharmaceuticals. While Mexico has its own set of regulations, they might not be as stringent or familiar to U.S. consumers. It's important to verify that the pharmacy meets international safety and quality control standards.

  4. Packaging and Instructions: The packaging might look different, and instructions may be in another language. Ensure you can understand all the information provided with your medication.

If you do decide to purchase from a Mexican source, make sure to get a comprehensive list of ingredients and dosing instructions. It's also wise to have these details reviewed by your healthcare provider for reassurance.

Thanks again, DrMedic8! I really appreciate the thorough explanation. I think Ill stick with my regular pharmacy here in the U.S. for now and see if there are any local options to save on cost.

Ive purchased some medications online from Mexico before and found them reliable as long as I went through a trusted pharmacy with good reviews. Always check the website for contact information and customer service details first.
